How to choose an Indoor/Outdoor Carpets
Homeowners now consider al fresco decor a priority, and more often than not you need a stylish indoor-outdoor carpet to tie it all together. When chosen correctly, an indoor-outdoor carpet allows your exterior living space to become an extension of your interior, broadening your living space for a larger, more open feel. Consider your Materials
Advances in carpet manufacture now allow indoor-outdoor carpets to be durable enough to handle all weather conditions. Choose the fade and stain resistant carpet flooring material made from UV-resistant olefin fibres to make your cleaning jobs easy. Olefin fibre, known for its strength, resistance to staining, fading, mildew and sunlight, is the generic name for polypropylene. There are also natural fibres, such as sisal, hemp and jute, that are strong and sound-absorbent but these generally cost more than synthetic fibres. Moisture resistance is necessary when carpeting an area that is completely exposed to the elements. For areas prone to dampness or fully exposed to the elements, make sure the carpet has an all-weather "marine" backing for moisture resistance.
Choose a size and shape
Indoor-outdoor carpets come in all shapes and sizes, but before you shop make sure you measure the outdoor area you would like to cover. You can mix and match different carpets to define spaces such as a sitting area.
Pick a pattern
Just because your carpet is going outside doesn't mean it has to be dull. We have a wide selection of brightly coloured solids, stripes and geometrics to suit all tastes. To help determine which is right for your space, consider what will complement your existing furnishings and how much of the carpet will be visible.
